West Linn could really use a family recreation center! Would be nice if it had an indoor pool, basketball court and racquetball court.
I think you should reuse the old police station as a community arts center, like what Bozeman, MT has in an old school there. It would be a good area to put a YMCA with pools in and affordable senior apartments, too.
Turn the the old Police Station in to a heritage center for the many non profits in our communities needing office/storage space and public display areas. Jim Mattis
We need a sidewalk that extends from the high school up Skyline to the neighborhoods up top. It is dangerous for the kids as well as it limits the top neighborhoods from frequenting the shops and restaurants down there. Every person we have spoken with considers the sidewalk to he of most importance. People are afraid to walk it, let their children walk to school or that they may hit someone. Thank you for considering the sidewalk.
Given the Arch Bridge area redevelopment, higher traffic density on Willamette Falls Drive will make it more difficult to turn left from (or onto) West A Street.
This three-sided intersection can be difficult to navigate, especially at rush hour. Due to the odd angles and the hillside, sight-lines here are poor. It can take a while for each car to safely turn left.
The diagrams I've reviewed (see the attached image) show some new islands on the West A side; but otherwise don't appear to show improvements to traffic control. This intersection very much needs it.
Perhaps a roundabout (as seen at Stafford / Rosemont / Atherton ) would get the job done. Beyond that, a stoplight with refuge lanes would make it possible to turn left safely, and without impeding traffic.
This would also make it much easier for non-vehicular traffic to safely cross Willamette Falls Drive. If control improvements are already in the works, then please let us know you have in mind. Thank you.
[ Note - my original idea on this topic is no longer visible on the site, so I have re-entered it. ]
I wonder if it is possible to build on the steep basalt ridge between Willamette Drive and the 205 freeway and between the Sunset and West A bridges. If it was possible, there would be dramatic views of the river and falls and the redeveloped Blue Heron site.
A dock with a trail to the city center for shopping and dining
I would like to see the "Heritage Center" with the following theme's: Canemah Indians - there life about the falls The Locks - and move the whole museum up to center Sullivan Power plant West Linn Paper Mill - obtain mill artifacts The Arch Bridge - it's predecessors (the WL - OC Ferry) & the original bridge West Linn Meteor - possibly getting a loan from Smithsonian. Police/criminal History involving department Heritage artifacts
To name a few items that would make a terrific destination museum.
West Linn has many parks from big to small, out on main streets and tucked away in neighborhoods. I think it would be fun to have the Parks & Rec Dept put out a Parks Passport that is similar to a scavenger hunt for parks. Each park would be listed on paper and also a set of clues. The goal would be to decode the clue to find the park and then visit it. Clues could be like: where the dinosaur lives or the tallest slide in town. If a child or family visits all of the parks in town they can win something or have their name listed on the town website or ???
Complete with Ferris wheels, arcade, and food carts!
